1. Introduction
Welcome to Taurai ("Teach Me"). We are committed to protecting your privacy while providing a high-quality Shona language learning experience. This policy explains how we handle data for our gamified lessons, AI tutoring, and monetization services.
2. Information We Collect
We use Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication to manage your profile, sync progress across devices, and secure your achievements.
For pronunciation practice, we record your voice. These recordings are processed by AI to give you feedback and are stored securely in Firebase.
Conversations with Tendai, our AI tutor (powered by Gemini), are processed to improve your learning journey and are saved in your chat history.
Subscriptions are handled via Google Play or App Store. We receive transaction confirmation but do not store credit card details directly.
3. Third-Party Services & Monetization
To keep Taurai accessible, we use several third-party platforms:
- Advertising: Google AdMob and InMobi serve ads to free users. They collect device identifiers (OAID/AD-ID) to measure performance.
- Passive Monetization: Infatica allows users to optionally share unused bandwidth. This is strictly opt-in and can be disabled in settings at any time.
- AI Processing: Google Gemini powers our tutor. Your input is used to generate responses. We do not use your private interactions to train foundation models.
4. Data Retention
We keep your data as long as your account is active to maintain your streaks, XP, and learning history. If your account is inactive for 24 months, we may anonymize or delete your data.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to access your progress, download your certificates, or request account deletion.
