ValuMate is built by Tendai Technologies, a Botswana-registered company. We prioritize startup and founder privacy by default.
1. Purpose and scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Tendai Technologies Proprietary Limited ("Tendai Technologies", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, stores, protects, and deletes personal data when a person uses ValuMate on the web, Android, iOS, or another supported platform.
ValuMate is a startup valuation and discovery platform. A valuation is an analytical opinion based on supplied data, model assumptions, and available market evidence. It is not a certified appraisal, audit, fairness opinion, investment recommendation, or guarantee.
2. Botswana-first legal framework
Tendai Technologies is incorporated in Botswana and treats the Botswana Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2024 as the primary privacy framework. We also apply the Botswana Consumer Protection Act 2018, the Electronic Communications and Transactions framework, and the Digital Services Act 2025 where applicable.
Where ValuMate is offered in other jurisdictions, additional mandatory rights may apply (e.g., GDPR, POPIA, CCPA). We apply the protection required by the law applicable to the individual and processing activity.
3. Our privacy roles
For ordinary use of ValuMate, Tendai Technologies is the data controller. Founders control whether a startup is placed in Investor Discovery. An investor who receives founder information becomes responsible for any further use of that information.
4. Personal data we collect
4.1 Account and identity
Name, email, profile image, user ID, locale, role, and professional website. We do not ask for national IDs or residential addresses.
4.2 Startup and valuation
Financials, traction, team details, pitch decks, and valuation assumptions. Commercially sensitive data is protected under strict access controls.
4.3 Investor Discovery
Disclosure settings, listing summaries, and contact requests. Discovery is off by default; publication is not a condition for valuation.
4.4 Billing and transaction
PayPal order IDs and status. Payment details are collected by PayPal; ValuMate does not store full card numbers or PayPal passwords.

7. Valuation automation, AI, and human review
ValuMate uses deterministic code for calculations and AI for classification and interpretation. AI output is bounded and validated. We do not use confidential documents to train public models.
8. Founder privacy and Investor Discovery
Startup data is private by default. Discovery requires affirmative action. Founders maintain full control over who sees their information; details are only exchanged if a founder accepts a request.

15. Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or data portability. You also have the right to withdraw consent and object to processing based on legitimate interests.
